Devices: Solar inverter

A solar inverter is a device that turns the electricity produced by your solar panels and your battery storage into usable electricity for your home.

Solar panels collect sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity however, the appliances in your home (like lights, TVs, and refrigerators) run on alternating current (AC) electricity. The solar inverter’s job is to change the DC electricity into AC electricity, making it usable for your everyday needs.

It also helps manage the flow of electricity, making sure everything runs safely and efficiently, for example optimizing the power levels on cloudy days or when some strings of your system are shaded.

If solar electricity is not directly needed in your home it is often stored in a battery also as DC electricity (-> add link to battery section). The battery can either use the same inverter (so called Hybrid inverters) as the solar system or they are separately connected tot he AC system of your home with a separate battery inverter.

In both cases it is recommended to also add your battery system to My.SunRoof to get full visibility of your home.

You can add the following brands to My.SunRoof. Follow the links to learn how to add your Solar Inverters:
