SunRoof isn’t slowing down – over 1000 solar roofs sold

SunRoof, a pioneer on the solar energy market, exceeded the number of 1000 solar roofs sold. Roofs made of monocrystalline photovoltaic modules have earned the trust of homeowners in Poland, Sweden, Germany and the US. In this way, SunRoof strengthens its position as the fastest growing BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) industry business.

Houses, companies, housing communities, tenements, a libraries and a church are only a few examples of buildings powered by the clean energy from photovoltaic roofs from SunRoof. The state of the art solar technology has a wide range of applications in both newly built and refurbished buildings. Our clients appreciate the aesthetics, durability and functionality of the SunRoof 2-in-1 system, which is a great alternative not only for individually mounted photovoltaic panels, but also for roofs in general.

Pioneer on the solar energy market

SunRoof is a Swedish startup revolutionising the capture and use of renewable energy through its solar roof system. The company was established to accelerate the green transformation in a way that is easy and without compromise in terms of quality and design. This how we designed the integrated solar roof, standing out for its highest performance in the world, producing more energy from 1 sqm than competitive solutions, using up less materials and leaving a smaller carbon footprint.

The startup consistently increases engagement in making the solar technology of the future more accessible. After its success in Sweden, it started a dynamic, global expansion and now also provides services for clients from Poland, Germany and the US.

The last 2 years have been a time of intensive development, backed with resources acquired from leading European funds. In January 2023, SunRoof increased the total amount raised in the Growth round in September 2022 to €28.5 million. Companies specialising in climate technologies, World Fund, Nordic Alpha Partners, Legal & General Capital and Klima Energy Transition Fund invested in the startup. Previously, the company also earned the trust of investors such as Inovo VC, SMOK Ventures, Alfabeat and Level2 Ventures.

The necessity to counteract climate changes and the need for energy independence are making solar energy more and more popular. We are happy that SunRoof is becoming the first choice for the construction, roofing and architecture industry, as well as for European homeowners,

says Lech Kaniuk, co-founder and CEO of SunRoof.

More than a roof

The startup offers technology of the future that makes it possible to build intelligent, energy self-sufficient houses, neighbourhoods and cities and to provide clean energy for means of transport. The confrontation of the needs of owners and users of properties with the requirements imposed on us by climate and energy targets have broadened the perception of the roof’s existing functions – from simultaneously protecting and insulating building to generating electricity.

SunRoof is definitely much more than a roof – it is a whole ecosystem of solutions, covering solar roofs, facades and SunPort photovoltaic shelters, as well as innovative solutions for managing energy. The company is striving to build a virtual power plant, being the biggest network of connected solar roofs in the world.

In our area, we develop a lot of innovative solutions, which contribute to the creation of a more ecological and sustainable future. We want to motivate people to change the way they generate and use energy, and to facilitate the choice of good energy,

says Lech Kaniuk, co-founder and CEO of SunRoof.
