SunRoof acquires Redlogger, creating a first of its kind energy marketplace in Europe

SunRoof, an international start-up manufacturing solar roofs has acquired Redlogger, a Swedish company developing renewable energy supporting software. This technological combination will create a robust and unique platform to sell the surplus energy generated by SunRoof solar cells. The first marketplace launch takes place in Poland.

Redlogger (Renewable Energy Data Logger) is a system and an application which logs the amount of green energy that is generated and consumed. In addition, it reports the energy for the Swedish Energy Agency, a requirement to receive compensation for the surplus provided to the grid. Previously only available to owners of solar panels in Sweden, Redlogger will soon become available in all countries where SunRoof operates. Its potential will also be utilised to develop two further digital solutions – a digital home platform and a unique solar energy marketplace.

Redlogger will undergo a complete overhaul and, alongside collecting data on the amount of power generated by a solar roof, it will also be able to smartly manage energy in the household as well as to integrate with smart home solutions. It will thus become the hub for the digital platform. The system will inform clients how to best use the electricity – whether to charge an electric car, store the power in a battery or sell the surplus on the e-commerce platform.

Ready for marketplace launch this year

The latter will become possible soon thanks to the marketplace being developed by an international start-up, with a scope that includes managing the users’ power and selling certified renewable energy. This unique product will make SunRoof the only business on the market to ensure that its roofs continue to generate the greatest amount of energy possible for the next 30 years, thus focusing on long-term customer relations.

The digital platform is the brainchild of experienced Global Tech Entrepreneurs, the co-founders of SunRoof, who have international experience working on similar projects. Lech Kaniuk, the CEO of SunRoof, has successfully co-founded such brands as Delivery Hero, PizzaPortal and iTaxi. Marek Zmyslowski is the co-founder of HotelOnline.co and Jumia Travel (listed on NYSE as part of Jumia Group). Rafal Plutecki has worked as the Head of Google Campus Warsaw, and has founded and worked as the CEO of such companies as Internet Technologies (one of the first Internet businesses in Poland) and Tempo.

Our ambition is to become the largest energy marketplace in Europe, and to use the Redlogger infrastructure to develop a platform that can compete with Tesla’s Autobidder. SunRoof is currently growing at such a rapid pace that investing in new technologies which meet our needs and expectations saves us the time and resources we would have needed to spend on developing such a system from scratch. As a result, we can accelerate the implementation of unique energy management solutions from 6 months to a year. Some of the acquisition-related transactions were cash transactions, while some involved SunRoof shares, meaning that key Redlogger staff have become our partners. We are happy to see them complement our own skills. By joining forces, we can digitise the energy market and promote the use of renewable energy sources. More acquisitions of businesses from this area are thus also on the table,

says Lech Kaniuk, CEO of SunRoof.

SunRoof has seen 500% YoY growth

Established in Sweden in 2013, SunRoof’s goal is to develop a solar roof with a modern design that would replace the traditional roof and produce ecological electricity without having to install photovoltaic panels. Thanks to the team enforcements, SunRoof recorded a 500% YoY growth. As of today, the company has built more than 100 roofs in Sweden, Norway, and Poland and keeps setting new trends for smart roof solutions.
