Innovative solar roofs from SunRoof debut in Switzerland. The goal is to revolutionise eco-friendly architecture and combat climate change

SunRoof, an international start-up developing wholly 2-in-1 solar roofs and façades as well as solutions to support smart energy management, is rapidly implementing its mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy sources around the world. The first house with the SunRoof’s solar roof has recently been completed in southern Switzerland. This is proof that modern architecture can be smart, beautiful, economical, as well as friendly to the people and the environment at the same time. The project was carried out at the request of an investor seeking ecological solutions that were in harmony with the stunning Alpine landscape.

Integrated solutions are the future of construction

It was a pioneer project carried out by the SunRoof team in a foreign market. The 2-in-1 solar roof system was the key element. The innovative SunRoof technology combines house architecture with electricity-producing systems. Such a roof with integrated photovoltaic cells provides ‘green’ energy that can power any electrical appliance, provide heating and air conditioning, and even allow you to charge an electric car in your garage. This creates a new space for smart energy management

– said Lech Kaniuk, CEO at SunRoof.

Climate challenges and growing electricity demand are increasingly encouraging investors to opt for sustainable innovations.

Modern barn-style house – ecological and economical

The house in Switzerland was built in a fashionable modern barn style. The relatively simple body of the building, with its steep gable roof, is in perfect harmony with the mountain environment and guarantees comfort to the inhabitants.

The solar roof certainly attracts attention too. The breakthrough glass-glass technology not only provides higher performance and durability, the latter having been tested on more than 100 projects implemented by SunRoof under demanding Scandinavian conditions, but also gives the building a distinctive appearance. This shows that ecology can be practical, profitable and beautiful at the same time.

The SunRoof covers both the garage and the residential part, with the former being well-prepared for installing a free electric car charging station. The 250 m2 solar roof has an output of 18 kWp and can generate 16,300 kWh of electricity per year, enough to fully cover all the energy needs of the household, including heating.

Such an investment also helps us build a green future. A SunRoof roof generates 12,199 kg less CO2 per year than competing solutions in its class, and features a biodegradable construction.

SunRoof is moving into more markets, with increasing confidence. After its early success in Sweden, where it was founded in 2013, it quickly introduced the solar revolution to Poland as well. Currently, it is also expanding into Spain and Norway.
