A solar roof that is not the dark blue of solar cells – this is SunRoof’s take on ecological and beautiful architecture. This Polish-Swedish start-up demonstrates that it is possible to have both a solar roof and unique design, without having to compromise by installing ugly-looking photovoltaic equipment.

Typical solar cells are usually dark blue or black, which is not always what the architect had in mind, and many a developer has been faced with the difficult decision between the practical and financially viable choice and the aesthetically pleasing one. Until now. SunRoof has developed a two-in-one solar roof which sports stunning visuals and unique colours. Rather than creating a traditional roof and then covering it with solar panels, now it is the roof itself that generates green energy for the house. Take a look at the latest SunRoof implementations in Greater Poland to see just how impressive modern ecology can be.

The idea behind the project was clear – an ecological house should form a cohesive visual whole.A smooth transition between the black and brick facade and the roof emphasises the harmony of the building and its synergy with the surrounding environment. This was achieved using SunRoof technology, which integrates the roof with the solar panels, making it possible to select a colour which matches the architect’s design.

Despite its modest form, the house achieves an interesting visual effect, while its residents can enjoy the benefits of solar energy. SunRoof generates enough energy for heating, powering electrical appliances, using smart home solutions and charging electric vehicles.

We develop innovations which attract smart home users and make their lives easier. A single solution combines everything that is beautiful, ecological and economical. Our customers will soon be able to use a digital platform for power management and the sale of the energy surpluses generated by their solar roofs,

says Lech Kaniuk, CEO of SunRoof.

Designed in Sweden

A colorful solar roof is certainly not for everyone – but it is certain to gain followers among the bolder developers and creative architects. On the other hand, the universal, deep black of the SunRoof solar tile is sure to satisfy everyone who loves classic, good-looking designs.

The Scandinavian elegance and minimalism hearken back to the company’s Swedish roots. It is also made possible thanks to the glass-glass technology, which ensures high solar roof efficiency and durability.
