Chief Financial Officer – Board Member

The Opportunity:
SunRoof is one of the fastest-growing hardware-enabled software start-up within the clean energy space, looking for a CFO. Reporting into the Founders/CEO, you will be a key member of the global senior management team and will play an important role in taking the business to its next level of growth, whilst managing and growing the finance function.

You will be responsible for both the operational and strategic aspects of the company finances.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of participating in building up a hypergrowth company from early stage to IPO and beyond. On top of the fundamental financial qualifications of a CFO, you will have a skill set within building strong international teams, maintaining a strong company culture even in rapid headcount growth, creating successful go-to-market strategies, raising capital and negotiating with VCs. You have been part of scaling a hypergrowth company while optimizing the operations at the same time. You will also have experience in hardware and manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CEO on developing the strategic business plan and long-term financial planning for the organization whilst identifying opportunities and risks to the plan
  • Actively participate in fundraising from VCs and private equity
  • Develop the financial strategy in line with a business need
  • Participate in company-wide strategic reviews
  • Evaluate different financing options
  • Actively participate and create new financial products and services for the company’s customers, including: „roof for 1 euro” and „EV-as-a-Services”.
  • Setup and monitor day-to-day financial operations, oversee income, cash flow, and expenses within the whole group
  • Create and develop internal processes regarding financial operations, reporting and controlling
  • Oversee implementation of ERP system and other financial/finance related software
  • Drive global budgeting, forecasting and reporting
  • Execute cost control and allocation to monitor and optimize margin
  • Be responsible for optimally allocating capital as part of financial planning for new business opportunities
  • Design and facilitate the quarterly and annual planning and ongoing forecasting process, setting process to establish annual goals for revenue, regularly review performance against original business cases
  • Oversee financial planning and analysis
  • Prepare the company for, and participate in legal and financial Due Diligence
  • Optimize cash conversion cycle
  • Ensure all financial activity is managed effectively and with integrity
  • Establish and maintain effective balance sheet reconciliation and month-end close processes to provide timely and accurate reporting to management.
  • Provide robust financial management information and financial analysis to the senior management team including monthly management accounts
  • Maintain and develop appropriate financial and risk management systems, processes and controls, ensuring excellent financial management and compliance with regulatory, banking and accounting requirements
  • Make the company IPO ready from a financial perspective
  • Manage credit and FX exposure
  • Oversee any potential fundraising activities, including building collateral, book-building and managing investor relations
  • Gather and articulate market-ready insights e.g. valuation, multiples, competitive positioning etc in commercially actionable terms to senior management and Sales functions
  • Where relevant, identify suitable M&A opportunities for the Group. Oversee end-to-end transaction execution and subsequent monitoring
  • Oversee the treasury function of the organization
  • Building a strong international finance team
  • Oversee the efficient and effective operation of the finance team including developing, coaching and training.

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of experience at CFO function with relevant industry experience in finance, Audit, Advisory or Transactions and M&A
  • Master degree in Finance, CPA or MBA preferred but not required
  • Experience of fund-raising VC round of USD 50M +, understanding of large founding & IPO
  • fluency in English. Other languages like German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish or Polish would be an asset
  • Strong finance-based analytical skills, well-structured and organized approach
  • Experience in managing a global company structure with subsidiaries especially in Europe and the US.
